The beauty of gold, the brilliance of precious stones, and yet…. none compare to the intensity and hypnotic radiance of fire.
On offer for sale is a finest example of watchmaking, an impressive and futuristic yellow polished grade 5 titanium skeletonized wristwatch with 3D moon phases, 6 day power reserve with indication, and floating lugs, the iconic De Bethune DB28 Yellow Tones, made in a limited run of only 25 numbered pieces.
What’s incredibly interesting and mesmerising about this fine timepiece is that it is not made of gold, and it’s neither coated with yellow colour, rather it is made of titanium, which is fire heated by hand, for each component of the dial one by one by the master watchmakers at De Bethune workshop in Geneva, until titanium naturally changed its colour permanently to golden.
The DB28 was presented to the public in 2011 and was awarded the highest distinction award “Aiguille d’Or” at the GPHG 2011 via its very first iteration in titanium. Achieving such a feat, the DB28 is perhaps one of the perfect examples of the firm’s approach to watchmaking. The DB28 Yellow Tones is a later iteration of the award-winning model, with a slight twist in yellow.
Comprising a silicon balance wheel escapement made of blued titanium proudly displayed at 6 O’clock with its signature 3D moon phases via a small ball bearing in multicoloured titanium, followed by its fancy floating lugs designed to maximize comfort across varying wrist sizes, the DB28 is certainly appealing and regarded as the household reference of the firm.
The watch presents in Like-New and Unworn condition and is offered as full set with all factory presentation boxes and papers, including the moonphase pusher and catalogues.
